The main activity of the association is the representation and connecting of winegrowers, representation of their interests and encouraging the development of viticulture and wine tourism in the area of Slovene Istria. The company organises professional lectures for members, informs them about the activities of the association, presents them with important information on its activities, informs them about tenders, participates in trade fairs and events (co-organising professional lectures for winegrowers and the public – Feast of Refosco and St. Martin’s Fest in Marezige, Slovene Wine Festival, workshops on other wine fairs), and also organises events. This year, the association is organising the 10th “Malvasia – the Rare Taste of the Mediterranean” festival whose aim is to evaluate and present the quality of Malvasia wine produced by winegrowers from Slovene, Croatian and Italian Istria and from other environments and, thus, contribute to its recognisability and promotion. Each year, the festival features more than 50 winemakers with approximately 80 wine samples and has over 3,000 visitors. The festival also features workshops and lectures by renowned experts. Among the events organised by the “Association of Winemakers from Slovene Istria”, we also have to mention “Days of Malvasia” which take place from St. Martin’s Day until Easter and the beauty contest “Wine Queen of Slovene Istria”.
